Frequently asked questions

Below you will find information on the production process, delays, discounts, customization options, and more.

Purchasing a Custom Hockey Stick is like ordering any other handcrafted product, and this takes time. Each and every hockey stick is crafted with high-quality professional-grade materials along with your exact specifications & graphics. This is not like settling for any stick off the rack.

Our process:

Delivery can vary from 1-2 weeks depending on your location.

This is a snapshot of our production. Having your own Custom Hockey Stick made is an awesome process, and is nothing like buying a stick in the store. We encourage you to give this process a shot as you won’t be disappointed.

We also encourage our players to purchase 2 sticks or more at a time to save on shipping.

Hockey sticks with average wear and tear won’t just “break”. They may break sooner than you were hoping, but the majority of the time, sticks break because of wear & tear. ie. slashes on the stick, face-offs, repeated shooting, leaving them outside at sub-zero temperatures etc.

Keep these points in mind:

If you are part of the .01% of people that actually break your stick the very first time you use it or within 30 days of receiving it, then here is what to do.

Tell us your order number and send us a few pictures of your stick:

We will then review your case and decide if it merits a replacement or not. At CHS, We are not jerks, but we also don’t want to be taken advantage of either.

NOTE: The warranty is valid for 30 days from the day you received your stick. If you send us a warranty request after this period, you will be responsible for the shipping costs if we accept your claim.

60 Days Extended Warranty

You can purchase an extended 60 day warranty. Note you will still need to supply the information noted above.

If by chance you enter the wrong shipping address when you place your order, you can either edit the address on your own through your account (if you create an account on checkout). If you did not create an account on checkout, then you can contact support@customhockeysticks.ca and request an address change.

However, CHS Custom Hockey Sticks LTD. is not financially responsible if you enter the wrong shipping address and your order has been shipped and becomes lost. If we need to re-ship or reproduce any orders, it will be at the expense of the client.

We accept order cancellations until you receive a notification (e-mail) that your order has gone into production.

Each Custom Hockey Stick is made to your exact specifications and has your name printed on it, because of this process, we do not accept returns for a Custom Hockey Stick that has been purchased.

For both cancellation and warranty inquiries please send us a message to orders@customhockeysticks.ca.

Each and every Custom Hockey Stick is made in part by hand and machine to your exact specifications, from scratch. There are many steps in the process that can lead to small visual imperfections on the hockey sticks

Carbon weave:
The checkered pattern that you see on hockey sticks is actually a carbon fiber weave. Carbon fiber is produced in sheets and then is wrapped around a mold to produce the shaft. As the sheets are applied to the shaft, one sheet will end and another will begin. However, the wrapping process will not match the square pattern from one sheet to the next causing a misalignment in the checkered pattern. This changes nothing in the integrity of the stick, however visually it will look a little off.

Paint:
Some of our sticks & blades are hand-painted to achieve a specific graphic design or color. With time and usage, the paint may chip or wear down. This will have no bearing on the performance of the hockey stick, as it is merely a coat of paint, but maybe visually disturbing as the paint may wear down or chip away. One of the advantages about making custom graphics is that we can make pretty cool looking hockey sticks with intricate designs, however you must keep in mind that when these sticks are used to play intense hockey with, wear and tear will happen, it’s only normal.

Not to worry though, these small cosmetic imperfections will not affect the quality of your stick, as our high-performance hockey sticks will compete with any top-level brand.

One of our core missions as a company is to be able to offer high-quality hockey sticks at a more affordable price. Our hockey sticks are set at the best price we are able to provide, and for this reason we do not give additional discounts for orders below 10 sticks.

If you are purchasing for a team, store, pro-shop, etc. and plan on ordering 10 sticks or more, we offer the following discounts:

For more information about bulk orders or if you wish to place one, please contact orders@customhockeysticks.ca

Ambassadors, reps & everyone else asking for a free stick:

Generally speaking, we are in business to provide high-quality products at affordable prices, and hopefully make a buck or two along the way.

Giving out endless free sticks, ain’t really going to help pay the bills. However, we do see the value of spreading the good word about CustomHockeySticks.

For that reason, you can apply to become an ambassador here.

UD: Unidirectional carbon fibers that run in one direction, similar to the grain of wood and is also what makes our sticks completely black.

12K: There are 12,000 carbon fiber filaments that are woven together. Because the fibers are woven and are not unidirectional, this gives the hockey sticks extra strength and is also what creates the small checkered pattern on the hockey stick.

18K: There are 18,000 carbon fiber filaments that are woven together making it even stronger than 12K and is also what creates the larger checkered pattern on the hockey stick.

24K: There are 24,000 carbon fiber filaments that are woven together. This is our highest grade of carbon fiber which makes the hockey sticks superior to 12/18K and is also what creates the largest checkered pattern on the hockey stick. Note that our sticks have 18K blades as 24K is too rigid for the curves.

Custom Hockey Sticks are designed and engineered in Montreal, Canada. Us Canadian’s know a thing or two about hockey!

We can ship just about anywhere that can receive packages or that has mail service, therefore we can ship to most places around the world. However, we currently only offer Canada & United States addresses directly through checkout. In your cart page before checking out, click on “Enter address for shipping rates”. The prices and options will be automatically calculated based on your shipping address. Hockey sticks are an “irregular” package size which is why it is more expensive than mailing a simple letter or package.

We offer discounted shipping for orders of 2 sticks or more.

For international shipping please send us an e-mail at orders@customhockeysticks.ca.

To know what stick height is best suited for you, stand up strait with your stick in front of you (the stick straight to your body). The stick should reach between your chin and your nose. If you are wearing your skates, it should reach approximately around your chin.

We measure our sticks from the floor to the top of the shaft in the same upright position. Consult the height chart above.

Yes, we can create a custom curve by manufacturing a custom mould. Each mould costs $1750 and your first 2 sticks are free.

You can either send us the curve you would like us to simulate (slight variations will apply to not infringe on curve patents), or you can provide us with a 3D drawing of your curve. For more information about this process please contact orders@customhockeysticks.ca

Each of our curves comes with a lie that has been determined by the mould of the curve. The only way we can change the lie of the curve is by making a new custom mould.

Sure! We are always interested in having other people sell our hockey sticks.

These are a couple of options:

If you own a store and are interested in ordering more than 10 sticks at a time, please see our volume discounts below:
